CrossOverMinistries

Our story

From a living room, to a store front, to a church they built.

How we got here

Pastor David and Christy Morris started out in ministry in the 1990s, serving ten years as the youth pastors of Strong Tower Church of God in Jonesboro, Georgia. Hundreds of young people were mentored and led to the Lord under their leadership.

In 2005 God laid it on Pastor's heart to start his own church. That is when CrossOver Ministries was founded. It began in their own home, then moved into a rented store front building, where it stayed for seventeen years.

Then came the biggest faith test of his life: build a church. Pastor had written the vision down on paper years earlier, not knowing when or how. Today CrossOver Ministries has its own church at 1376 Bucksnort Rd. in Jackson, Georgia.

They are passionate, loving, Bible-driven, Spirit-filled people, desperately seeking to save souls. And there is one thing you should know about them above all: they always give it to God.

“But the land which you cross over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water from the rain of heaven.”
Deuteronomy 11:11

Our mission

Our mission is to reach all walks of life in the 21st century, throughout the world, with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ: to build in word, and to develop in spirit, students and adults becoming leaders with effective ministry skills as instruments that have been placed in the hands of God.

What we believe

Fourteen things, stated plainly.

This is the church’s own statement of faith, in its own words, with the scripture behind each point.

The Bible

In the verbal inspiration of the Bible. The word inspiration meaning “God breathed.”

2 Timothy 3:16

One God

In one God eternally existing in three persons, namely the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:19, John 14:26

Jesus Christ

That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to Heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the intercessor.

Hebrews 7:23-25, 4:16

Repentance

That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins. Our guide is the Romans Road to Salvation.

Romans 3:10-18, 3:23, 5:8, 6:23, 10:9, 10:13, 5:1, 8:1

Justification

That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are brought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:18

Sanctification

In sanctification subsequent to the new birth through faith in the blood of Christ, the Word, and by the Holy Spirit. We can serve Him only as we know His Word and are obedient to it. The believer is set apart by the Word of God; that is, the Word reveals the mind of God.

John 17:17, Romans 15:15-19

Holiness

Holiness to be God's standard of living for His people.

1 Thessalonians 3:12-13

Baptism with the Holy Spirit

In the baptism with the Holy Spirit subsequent to a clean heart.

Luke 24:49

Speaking in other tongues

In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance, and that it is initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:4

Water baptism

In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:19

Divine healing

Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement. For He actually bore the punishment that we deserve.

Isaiah 53:5

The Lord's Supper

In the Lord's Supper and the washing of the saints' feet. Let it remind you of what Christ did for you.

Luke 22:19

His second coming

In the premillennial second coming of Jesus Christ. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the Earth a thousand years. The trumpet is His voice.

1 Corinthians 15:52, Revelation 1:10

The resurrection

In the bodily resurrection: eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.

Revelation 20:10-15

Why do I need to be saved?

The choice is yours.

Man was created to have fellowship with God. When sin separated man from having fellowship with God, it left an empty feeling or void in man's life.

  1. “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.”

    Romans 3:10
  2. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

    Romans 3:23
  3. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

    Romans 5:8
  4. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

    Romans 6:23

That void can never be satisfied by anything except by asking Jesus to forgive us of our sins and to be a part of our lives, so we can once again have fellowship with Him.

What must we do to be saved?

  • “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

    John 3:16

  • “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

    Romans 10:9

  • “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

    1 John 1:9

A prayer for salvation

Our heavenly Father, I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He died for my sins, and that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. I know that I have sinned, and I confess my sins to You and ask that You forgive me of all of my sins, and that You come into my heart and be the Lord of my life. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ my Savior. Amen.

If you pray this from the heart and are sincere, you will be forgiven of all of your sins and have a complete change in your heart and attitude toward yourself and others. This is what it means to be born again.

After that

You are a Christian now. Here is what to do next.

  1. Find a church and come every week

Find a good church that preaches the true Word of God, attend it each week, and spend time with other Christians. You are welcome at CrossOver.

  2. Read the Gospels

Start with Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. They tell you about the life of Jesus Christ and what He says about how to live yours.

  3. Pray every day

Ask God to help you understand what His Word is saying to you, and to live a life that pleases Him and gives Him glory for what He has done.

  4. Be baptized in water

An outward confession to the world that you have asked Jesus into your heart and been born again. Jesus set the example when John baptized Him.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
